Yarn Bombing at The Forum
Fri 30 & Sat 31 Mar
Helen Simpson - also known as Helen of Norwich - is a self proclaimed 'artivist' and loves to yarn bomb. She has been responsible for many woolly decorations around Norwich. She's creating a woolly installation just for Makers' Month on Theatre Plain, next to The Forum. Watch her decorate the trees, talk to her about her craftivism and see where she puts the pom poms made by Makers' Month visitors on Sat 24 and Sun 24 Mar.
Sheep Shearing and Wool Spinning
Sat 31 Mar
The Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) are shearing Norfolk Horn sheep outside The Forum as spinners stand by to spin the fleece while it's still warm! A great opportunity to learn about some of the rare breeds the Trust protects and to understand more about the wool production process. The RBST promotes the breeding and registration of rare and native breeds and their use for food, fibre and conservation grazing. Joining the RBST is the Woolly Roadshow, from Griffiths Mill in Derbyshire, promoting the best of British wool and British sheep.
Saori Weaving with The Saori Shed
Sat 31 Mar & Sun 1 Apr
Experience the joyful art of Saori weaving, which originates from Japan and has no rules or restrictions. The looms, from the Saori Shed in Diss, will be set up for everyone to have a go. There are no patterns to follow; this is free and spontaneous weaving that requires no experience. Saori banners created at last year's Makers' Month will be on show. See if you can spot the bit you did!

Weaving Spinners and Dyers

Hare All About It!
Mon 26 Mar to Sat 31 Mar
Watch one of the GoGoHares 2018 sculptures being painted ready for this summer's new trail around Norwich. This particular hare is being decorated by artists Tim Edwards and Fiona Muller, from ERM CIC, on behalf of the charity Chatterbox. Chatterbox is the name of the Norwich based talking newspaper and is one of the GoGoHare 2018 sponsors. The Go Go Hares 2018 trail starts on 24 June and runs through until 8 September, with 50 individually decorated hares placed around the city and raising money for Break, a Norfolk charity which helps vulnerable children. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from receiving an audio version of the local newspaper, absolutely free, contact Chatterbox. firstname.lastname@example.org / 01603 765365.
