Reindeer Rendezvous
Come in search of Father Christmas at 5pm at The Forum this Friday, 9th December, and meet Britain’s only free living herd of Reindeer, courtesy of the Anthony Nolan Trust, an independent charity which works to save lives from leukaemia by providing lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. The reindeer herd, including some young calves, usually live wild on Cairngorm Mountain in the Scottish National Park.
Emily Buck, 7, winner of the Reindeer Sleigh Ride competition, featured in the Norwich Christmas Experience magazine will ride on Santa’s sleigh, pulled by real reindeer around the city centre. Back at the ice rink, meet the reindeer, pose to have your photo taken with them and find out everything you ever wanted to know about these furry animals from their keepers.
On Friday, staff from the Anthony Nolan Trust would like to invite you to remember absent friends this Christmas by dedicating a light within the spectacular Crown of Lights over the EDF Energy Ice Rink in memory of someone special.
Trudy Thomas, Area Appeals Manager for the Anthony Nolan Trust said, “Your donation will help us give hope to patients waiting for a matching bone marrow donor. Every name remembered will be entered into the 2005 ‘Lights of Hope’ Memorial Book and an invitation will be sent to everyone who dedicates a light to join together on a date to be fixed to remember their own 'someone special' and pray for those who wait in hope.”
The Anthony Nolan Trust maintains the UK's most successful bone marrow register by managing and recruiting new donors who will donate their bone marrow to any patient in the world in need of a transplant. Through this work The Anthony Nolan Trust has saved the lives of thousands of adults and children. The Trust also conducts pioneering research into the treatment of bone marrow disorders and improving the effectiveness of bone marrow transplants.
