2nd Air Division Memorial Library

Part of the Millennium Library and housed in The Forum, the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library is a truly unique experience.

It is a living memorial to nearly 7000 airman of the 2nd Air Division United States Army Air Force who were killed whilst stationed in East Anglia during World War II.  The library serves not only as a memorial, but also as an educational resource and friendship bridge between two nations.

Features of this special centre include:

  • Over 4000 books covering all aspects of American life and culture
  • A specialist book section devoted to the 2nd Air Division
  • A 'living' documentation of the 2nd Air Division whilst based in East Anglia
  • American content related to the national curriculum for schools, colleges and universities
  • Books and information for people planning a visit to the USA

Through raising funds, the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library is also able to award two scholarships each year to American postgraduate students studying at the University of East Anglia (UEA). The American scholars are part of the Memorial Library staff team, providing expertise and knowledge about America and promoting the library as a unique resource.
