ELEMENTS EXTRA
‘This project and its themes capture the imagination of all, whether looking at man’s destruction of the natural world or the taming and harvesting of his surroundings; whether notions of ‘man’ were being dissected or ‘environment’ re-envisaged. I was given the opportunity to explore these ideas with a disparate group of students – from age 9 to 17 – and utilising a range of media, from animation to sculpture; textiles to photography.’

‘The children have been excited by the prospect of producing their own animations and involving cross curricular activities. Each member of the class produced a poem based on a particular month of the year. The seasonal theme of each poem has allowed the children to develop their understanding of 'the elements' and how the environment may be affected. These qualities have allowed each animation to thrive on a common theme, but what makes the
animations special are their individual attributes.’
