Millennium Plain will be packed full of entertainment every weekday lunchtime with the return of our popular street art series, LunchBox. Take a break from your working day, bring the family, entertain guests... these international performers are set to amaze all with their humour, skill and grace.

WEEK 1

Mon 27 Jul Syrovy
Syrovy

We've invited back Artizani to begin our LunchBox celebrations for this year. Developed in 2001 as part of the Year of the Artist, Syrovy has all the ingredients needed for a perfect show! Inspired by the comic routines of Buster Keaton, Harpo Marx and W.C. Fields.

Razor Sharp Bananas

 

A giant fly riding a unicycle crash lands onto Millennium Plain - revealing the ultimate daredevil...Barnaby! He will whip you into a frenzy with fearless acrobatics and razor sharp bananas! This international fool will deliver bucketfuls of laughter with skilful mime, sublime slapstick and accomplished physical comedy.

On the LunchBox menu today, witness Bruce Airhead’s very silly attempt to slide his entire body into an oversized balloon whilst dancing to music. This unbelievable routine will leave you bursting with laughter.

We’re providing you with another helping of the incredibly moorish Goronwy Thom when he returns for a second year of LunchBox shenanigans. Fill up on his crowd-pleasing routines and hilarious audience participation.

Set to work up an appetite, LunchBox favourites The Black Eagles return with their amazing show, featuring stunning acrobatic skills and energetic dance in performances that are both enjoyable and breathtaking.

Work off your lunch with these 1980s PE Teachers who are on a mission to get the nation fit for the 2012 Olympics using only their enthusiasm, a roving musical pommel horse and some PE kits rescued from the lost and found locker.

Bernie Bennett's Embarrassing Dad


Fill up on some serious comedy with Bernie Bennett’s latest character creation – Embarrassing Dad. Serving up a plateful of heart-stopping tightrope skills and comic buffoonery –  witness just how embarrassing one parent can be!

(T)hat Juggler

Satisfy your thirst for entertainment with the skillful meanderings of (T)hat Juggler. Bringing plate spinning, juggling, rola bola and unicycling to the table, this highly rated perfomer is set to be a favourite with our LunchBox audience




Thu 6 AugSchool for Buskers
School for Buskers

Today’s ‘plat du jour’ sees the very welcome return of the Grand Theatre of Lemmings. Their School for Buskers show has all the ingredients needed for a truly satisfying LunchBox performance. Following the ACME Busker’s kit, two novices are trying to busk for the first time, hoping that the audience won’t eat them for dinner in the process!  


Fri 7 Aug Anyone for Tennis
Anyone for Tennis?

Serving up a mix of comedy, tennis and audience participation, we welcome back the Fairly Famous Family and their tennis court to The Forum! A hilarious and thrilling 'one setter' is played out live before an enraptured crowd, stuffed with all the drama of the real thing including slow motion replays, heated line calls and live commentary.

Jones and Barnard: The Variety Spectacular


This popular duo are certainly a recipe for success. Their satirical exploration examines the eccentricities of the collective British character through the universal language of dance, classic song and variety skill routines, fused with an original funky soundtrack.

It's time for tea at The Forum! The year is 1940. Women all over Britain are doing their bit to keep the country ticking along nicely. Local ladies Fruiti D'Bosco and Agnes Swighandle have opened a small teashop, bringing tea to all in need. But is all as it first appears? This sugar-coated adventure features a flying mouse, an informative pigeon and a transforming teashop.

Things have turned sour for these two lovers. A comic affair involving a strong blend of acrobatic shenanigans, wayward children, and a tasty box of tricks.

Maniax

Fill yourself up with some fast paced fiery entertainment from MarkMark Productions. Popular with the LunchBox audience, this feast of a show is jampacked with fast moving comedy, chains, padlocks, stunts and The Maniax’ 8 foot high platforms.



Fri 14 AugBash Street Theatre
The Station (LunchBox Highlight)

Enjoy a slice of some of the best street theatre in Europe from Bash Street Theatre Company. A fitting end to our marvelous menu of LunchBox delights, this show will leave you craving more. Set in a dilapidated railway station in the age of steam locomotives, be prepared for a dramatic train crash, a dare-devil rescue and some great comedy action from this award winning company.
Special 50 minute perormance at 12.30pm.
